VOICE LESSONS
Mindful Music offers patient, personalized voice instruction targeted toward children, teens, and adults interested in musical theater, classical, and choral singing. Jonathan Flowers draws upon his more than twenty years of experience as a director of middle school, high school, and adult choruses, synagogue choirs, show choirs, and musical theater productions. In addition to holistic musical growth, lessons can be targeted toward the following specific goals:
PMEA and NJMEA district, region, state, and national honor choirs
school and community musical theater productions
college auditions
recitals
auditions for school and adult choral ensembles
sight singing
Examinations for the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM Canada) Certificate Program
To provide stimulating, well-rounded training, lessons address the following areas:
Mindfulness Exercises: to develop mental focus, confidence, and physical awareness
Vocal Technique: establish a daily warm-up regimen to develop breath control, tone quality, range of pitch and volume, diction and articulation, and maintain vocal health
Repertoire: selected according to the student’s needs and interests
Music Literacy: sight reading, solfege, and stylistic understanding
Feedback between lessons: students use an innovative online portal to access practice resources and send recordings to the teacher for feedback between lessons.
Students have opportunities to perform in recitals and informal studio classes according to their needs.
Instruction is provided in the studio or online. Jonathan is a leader in online teaching who gives workshops to help other teachers teach online. To provide outstanding audio and video quality, the studio is acoustically treated and equipped with multiple cameras and high-quality microphones. The studio uses an optimized internet connection and Zoom’s premium High Fidelity Music Mode to maximize call quality.
